The faith of the blind man can put us to shame.
Luke 18:35-43
When the blind man recognized Jesus for who he was, the crowd wanted him to be quiet. Perhaps they thought that Jesus would have no time for him…a mere beggar and blind at that. Perhaps we may have thought so too. We are blind.
His action shows how we ought to be persistent and ask Jesus to be involved in our everyday life. Jesus comes to us in our very nothingness. The faith of the blind man can put us to shame. He could not see Jesus, but he knew what Jesus could do for him. I admire his boldness, and I think of some of the street dwellers growing in numbers in our cities. They are not timid to call out for help even when abused.
How bold am I to allow Jesus to participate in every aspect of my life? What blocks me from persistence in prayer?
Lord Jesus, thank you for responding to my needs. Forgive me when I fail to see you in those on the fringes of society. Take the blindness from my eyes.
