“Lord, teach us to pray…”
Luke 11: 1 – 4
Jesus’ disciples observed His lifestyle of prayer and recognised its inherent power. As a consequence, they asked Him to teach them to pray and Jesus taught them the prayer we have come to know as “The Lord’s Prayer”
The ‘Our Father’ is not only a prayer, but also a model or a pattern for how we should pray. Here is the model:
- Always put God’s Holy Name first.
- Always pray for others, not just for ourselves and our loved ones.
- Pray to the Father, the Source of all holiness, through His Son Jesus, in communion with the Holy Spirit.
- Pray with reverence and sincerity.
- Pray that ONLY God’s Will be done in and through us.
- Be thankful for all that God has given to us.
- Pray for a heart of forgiveness.
- Pray for the grace to always overcome temptation.
- Pray that we may always resist satan’s call to evil.
ALL Power and Glory belong to God alone!
AMEN.
