The Mental Health Initiative (MHI) under the Office of the Suburban Vicariate has embarked on a Relationship Building Programme.
Relationship-building skills are a combination of soft skills that a person applies to connect, navigate, and promote healthy interactions with others.
In July 2023, the MHI hosted their first ‘Relationship Building Programme – For Couples’, where couples learned healthy and effective ways of communicating with each other, how to identify shared goals and values, manage conflict and gain a deeper understanding of their relationship dynamic. This was done through various therapy techniques, exercises and activities developed by qualified and trained professionals, along with Fr Hasely King O Carm.
Comments from some participants:
Dating: “For a new couple it gave us a better starting point for our relationship.”
Married 10 years – “As a young couple, the experience allowed for important issues to be discussed alongside other more mature couples which help understand that there is no right or wrong way to love but that it all comes from the same place.”
