Arima’s Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary welcomes new member

As one of the oldest institutions in the Catholic Church, The Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary is officially commissioned by the Church to promote devotion to Jesus and Mary, His mother through the rosary.

It persists today in the Arima parish, where members consecrate themselves to Mary, Mother of God and our Mother placing themselves under her protection and inspiration.

One such consecration took place on Sunday, October 1, at the Holy Cross Chapel where Catherine Francis was formally enrolled by Fr Matthew Ahye OP into The Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary of Santa Rosa and Malabar.

The Confraternity is part of the worldwide Dominican family founded by St Dominic in the 13th century, at the expressed command of Our Lady herself who taught him the rosary form of praying and inspired him to found a Confraternity in her honour (Manual of the Most Holy Rosary Confraternity, p.1).

The Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary of Santa Rosa and Malabar meets in fraternal fellowship on the first Sunday of every month when they attend 7 a.m. Mass together at Santa Rosa, except in May when they do so at at Malabar.

After Mass, the group conducts their general business meeting which concludes with a fraternal sharing of breakfast refreshments. The Confraternity is self-sustaining and shares in the prayers and apostolate of the Dominican Order.
