Her life embodies obedience, humility, and surrender to God’s will.
Matthew 1: 1 – 16. 18 – 23
Today the Church celebrates the Feast of the Birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Birthdays, whether it is that of a baby or a grandparent, are special. Every family looks forward to celebrating the birthdays of their own. The Church family is no different. Today we joyfully celebrate Mary’s birthday.
The gospel is not about Mary’s birth but Jesus’ birth. Through it we are reminded that the Son of God was also born and lived among us. And His birth makes all births special and significant.
The genealogy of Jesus is not merely a list of names but a testament to God’s faithfulness and promise throughout history. It highlights how God worked through ordinary men and women, flawed yet chosen, to prepare the way for the Messiah. And Mary is an essential link in this chain.
Mary’s birth spoke of hope. God brought her into this world and gave her the grace for her unique role in His redemptive plan. Her life embodies obedience, humility, and surrender to God’s will.
