I once heard in a homily that the ills that are ‘acting out’ in someone, are indicative of the dark spirits that are operating in the person and that is not who the person really is. I believe this and would repeat it to many. But I would be telling an untruth if I didn’t say that I doubted at times!
I feel someone knows very well what he or she is doing and can stop. Free will, free choice, right? It turns out that God aligned someone in my path to bring clarity. A gentleman who was convicted by the power of the Holy Spirit and had been a ‘soldier’ in the devil’s army.
“Michelle girl, when that evil spirit starts to talk to you, it lures you in more and more, there is no getting out. You know it is something wrong but that thought quickly vanishes and before you know it, you are in the full swing, too strong to fight…Prayers saved me.”
Remember the song by Elton John, ‘Sacrifice’. “It’s a human sign when things go wrong, when the scent of her lingers, and temptation’s strong into the boundary of each married man, sweet deceit comes calling and negativity lands, cold cold heart…” Do we know boundaries?
Cold, cold heart is accurate! Or we might say, a heart of stone. Here is a question: Can an addict in any form stop a vice without receiving a miracle or divine intervention?
God didn’t send His son to die for us for no reason. God knows we need His help to fight sin. Romans 7:18, “For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.”
Our ability to understand is based on how much we are edified or perfected in Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
When we argue, we are comparing what we know based on where we are and not what is the truth. Who or what is the only truth? God!
Are we connected?
