“God, reveal yourself to me… today?”
Matthew 16:13-20
Jesus reveals God as the source of happiness and purpose. “Who do you say I am,” is the question that He asks His disciples. It is a question that we must each face along life’s journey. When things go our way, it may be easy to exclaim, “Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father!” But what about when things aren’t happening as we like…when our faith is tested by anything, from illness to competing interests, opinions and teachings? What is our response when we feel weak, confused, or defeated? Do we feel unhappy or even question our very existence?
Oh, how difficult it can be to find happiness and purpose in times of trial!
At these times, we are challenged to listen attentively to God’s voice. It is only God who can reveal Himself to us. At the basis of God’s revelation, are some simple truths: God loves me, God wants my happiness, God gives purpose to my life.
Oh God, reveal yourself to me…today?
