Saturday August 12th: Moving mountains

“If you have faith as a mustard seed” ….

Matthew 17:14-20

To have faith to move mountains is to believe in the power of The Holy Trinity that resides within, on account of baptism. It is to believe that God is working for you to overcome obstacles and challenges that stand in the way of your accomplishing the furthering of the Kingdom of Heaven, that is uniquely given to each of us disciples. And our family’s wellbeing is intricately interwoven with this mission.

We nurture this faith through prayer, studying the scriptures, and cultivating a relationship with The Holy Trinity. Jesus is urging us to develop such a faith.

Today, in a world that could be overwhelming at times, we need that faith to overcome family difficulties like the father in the Gospel passage, who went with the faith of a mustard seed seeking God’s help for his son. And he was rewarded with a mountain being moved.
