Thursday, August 3rd: A Sobering Gospel

…” the angels will appear and separate the wicked from the upright to throw them into the blazing furnace.”

Mathew 13: 47-52

This is a very sobering Gospel. It forces me to remember to live with my eye on the prize. I pray each day not to let God down.
I read St. Benedict’s Rule and a Daily Commentary on the Rule. The internet makes it easy. I have a variety of options. This gives me some insight on how to be a good servant of God.
WhatsApp allows me to get together with five friends and pray The Divine Office every afternoon. We read Vespers (Evening Prayer).
Morning prayer is easy for most of us. We wake up and we pray. Evening prayer was a different story! A friend suggested why not let us pray together?
I also know that I must volunteer. Servants have to work.
These are some of the things I do, to help me, with God’s Grace, to stay out of “the blazing furnace”.
