Toco resident turns 100

On Saturday, July 15, Claudia George, of Petit Trou Junction, Toco, celebrated her 100th birthday.

Together with her family, Claudia started her special day with Holy Mass at her home, where she received the Holy Eucharist. Fr Raymond Francis, parish priest of the Toco/Matelot Catholic community was the celebrant. A few members of the Trinitarian Presence Missionaries (TPM) accompanied him. Claudia was born in Toco but grew up in Rio Claro. She returned to Toco when she was 40 years and has lived in the community ever since.

Her parents were Clementina Nichols and Joshua Edwards. She was married to Esau George (dec) and bore a son and daughter who gave her two grandchildren. Her favourite meal is rice and ochro cook-up with saltfish.

In a simple ceremony, the TPM presented her with a specially-made birthday cake and a gift. Congratulations and blessings to her. —Adrian Watson, Toco
