Thursday July 6th: Divine Forgiveness and its Healing Power

‘… For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Stand up and walk?’

Matthew 9: 1 – 8
The man in this passage was entirely imprisoned in his body. He could never have been healed without the help of his caring and determined friends.
A person can become crippled because of sin causing spiritual paralysis, trapped in depression, fear, apathy and guilt. The effects sin has on our lives are vast and wide, clouding our eyes not to see and covering our ears not to listen to how God cares for each of us. This weakens us and we are forced to carry loads of burdens. This is not the plan for us for we are not meant to be consumed by fruits of darkness.
The gospel for today reminds us to rise and walk away from our dark rooms. We have the gift/Sacrament of Reconciliation to aid in leading us back to the light and the fruits of the Spirit which ultimately leads us to a path towards eternity.

May the healing power and love of Jesus touch our innermost thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and may we be transformed in His truth and goodness.
