We feature those unheralded persons in the parishes committed to selling this publication. We appreciate all who have contributed to this ministry over the years, helping to deliver this paper into the hands of the people in the pews.
WE FEATURE:
Christian Ochoa, parishioner of St Francis of Assisi RC Church, Belmont
Q: How long have you been involved in selling the paper?
I’ve been involved since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Q: Why did you get involved?
The reason I got involved was because I assisted during the pandemic but as it cleared up something told me to stay. It was a kind of calling for me because my family is very active in the church, so it felt like the right thing to do.
Q: What value or significance do you get from being a Catholic News seller?
By selling The Catholic News at my parish, I’ve been able to connect with the parishioners and develop a deeper relationship with them.
Q: What is your approach to encourage people to buy or read the paper in your parish?
Just engaging with them and having a friendly conversation usually encourages the parishioners to purchase The Catholic News.
Q: How do you think the paper can be better promoted to Catholic faithful?
Honesty, I think if we try implementing more youth activities and content in the paper, it would be better promoted to the youth.
Q: To be a seller you most probably also read the paper. What are your favourite pages or columns?
The page that always stands out to me is the cover page as it changes every week, and it shows you what to expect inside. Usually when the cover is attractive, it encourages people to purchase.
