Confirmation in Santa Cruz

Archbishop Charles Jason Gordon confirmed 29 candidates from Holy Cross RC, Santa Cruz on Monday, May 29. Prior to entering the beautifully decorated church, Archbishop Gordon met and prayed with candidates and catechists.

During his homily, the Archbishop shared with candidates that, “we need the Holy Spirit to equip us to live our sacred purpose, whatever that may be.”

He also reminded that the Holy Spirit wants to come and do his work in us, but we have to say ‘yes’, as the only way we can receive the Holy Spirit is to empty ourselves of pride, drama, wilfulness and wanting to be right always.

In closing, Archbishop Gordon asked those present to close their eyes and in silence ask the Holy Spirit to empty their hearts and show what they need to do.

At the end of Holy Mass, one of the newly confirmed (or as humorously called by the Archbishop “confirmandees”), gave the vote of thanks, which was followed by the distribution of the tokens of appreciation to Archbishop Gordon, Fr Hasely King O Carm and the catechists. — Holy Cross RC, Santa Cruz Communication Unit.
