Thursday May 18th: Always Good News

The words of Sacred Scripture stir something in our hearts. (Jn 16:16-20)

John 16: 16-20

“You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn to joy.” What does He mean? What is he talking about? I don’t understand. I don’t get it…
Like the disciples, many times we are confused and do not understand what the Lord is saying to us when He addresses us.
The words of Sacred Scripture stir something in our hearts. We feel challenged when we encounter Christ in those we meet, and they speak a word that calls us to reflection. Many times, we wonder what it all means, but we hesitate to go back to the Source for understanding.
However, when we take the time to try and overcome our confusion, we understand that Jesus’ message is always one of hope.
“Your sorrow will turn to joy.”
“Your broken relationship will be healed.”
“This pain, this sickness will not last forever.”
“I will provide for you as you look for a new job.”
“Don’t worry, exams will be fine”
“I am with you always.”
It is always, good news.
