Local Church honours Communications in May

If you’re not familiar, every year in May, the Universal Church celebrates World Communications Day (WCD) guided by The Holy Father’s World Communications Day message and theme.

For the 57th WCD celebrated on Ascension Sunday (May 21st), Pope Francis calls the faithful to “Speak with the heart – The truth in love” (Eph 4:15).

To understand what this theme might mean for Catholics and more so Catholic communicators, it’s important to read the document, reflect on it and pray on it!

Throughout the month of May, CatholicTT assisted by Catholic Media Services Limited and The Catholic News have been engaging the local Church community in Trinidad and Tobago in honour of WCD 2023.

These are some of their initiatives:
1. The Catholic News has a special offer at parishes only with three copies for $10 which began on May 7 and continued each weekend in May. The idea is to share The Good News with a friend, neighbour, or stranger to pass on the faith.

2. Catholic faithful are asked to reflect on the words of the chosen hymn, ‘Pass It On’ which tells of passing on God’s truth and love to others. Parishes were asked to sing the hymn at Mass on the weekend of May 20 – 21.

3. Bookmarks with a special prayer and other information would be distributed at Masses and throughout RC schools.

4. Catholic Media Services Limited would be working closely with other faith-based communicators like Trinity TV and SIGNIS Caribbean to host webinars, develop media projects, and train and support parish media teams and Catholic media practitioners where possible.

5. The Catholic community (local, regional, and global) can opt-in to daily, weekly, or monthly content sent directly to their email inbox and tailored to their faith needs. SIGN UP HERE
