Is Christ divided?

By Fr Donald Chambers

We pilgrim to the land

of Jesus’ earthly life,

‘Cause it’s Holy.

Holy cause: the footsteps of Jesus,

Jesus – human and divine.

We pilgrim to the town

of Bethlehem,

‘Cause it’s holy.

Holy cause: Jesus’ birthplace.

We pilgrim to the town

of Nazareth,

‘Cause it’s holy.

Holy cause: Jesus lived and grew in statue and wisdom.

We pilgrim to the town

of Cana,

‘Cause it’s holy.

Holy cause: Jesus performed his first

miracle at a wedding.

We pilgrim to the town of Capernaum,

‘Cause it’s holy.

Holy cause: Jesus healed the sick, especially Peter’s mother-in-law.

We pilgrim to the town

of Magdala,

‘Cause it’s holy.

Holy cause: Jesus rested there en route to the Sea

of Galilee and healed Mary.

We pilgrim to the Sea

of Galilee,

‘Cause it’s holy.

Holy cause: Jesus fished with His disciples.

We pilgrim to Mount Tabor.

‘Cause it’s holy.

Holy cause: Jesus was transfigured in cold and cloud-covered mist.

We pilgrim to the Garden

of Gethsemane,

‘Cause it’s holy.

Holy cause: Jesus spent time in prayer, especially before his arrest.

We pilgrim to the Upper Room,

‘Cause it’s holy.

Holy cause: Jesus intimately celebrated

the Last Supper.

We pilgrim to the old city

of Jerusalem,

‘Cause it’s holy.

Holy cause: Jesus’ suffering footsteps.

We pilgrim to the site of Jesus’ crucifixion, burial, and Resurrection,

‘Cause it’s holy.

Holy cause: it’s the place

of our redemption.

We pilgrim to holy sites.

Holy sites managed by Latin Catholics, Greek Orthodox, Armenian Catholics, Ethiopian Orthodox, and Syriac.

Yet, each fighting for a piece of the sacred pies,

Divide up the sacred pies,

And control the sacred pies like personal kingdoms.
