Poem: A Stormy day for Summer (A true story)

The NOAA predictions aside, we in T&T have to prepare for our own storms that are gathering—literally and figuratively.

By Summer Chunisingh Spencer

On May 9, 2004, I went out for a little lime,

I had no idea it would be such a dangerous time.

Some friends and I were hanging, having some fun.

We chilled for a while, then left around quarter to one.

A friend was dropping me home, when a car overtook another car and drove into the car I was in,

and the man in the front seat of the other car started dying

I was totally knocked out, pushed to the trunk and my soul went flying

I was in a coma for two weeks, unconscious for two months.

One day I woke up with no worries, nor no wants

Back then my story??? was long and just a little sad,

A few years before that, died my Dad

My Lord is my Father, He is blessing and guiding me

I firmly believe, one day my heart, soul and leg would be free.
