The verse, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.” brings both hope and consolation.
John 10:1-10
Years ago, almost every child of any religion in Trinidad and Tobago, knew the 23rd Psalm. It could literally spill out of their mouth without much effort. Even the dying seniors would whisper it!
It is strange that the experience of a shepherd or even of sheep was not well known except perhaps for a picture on a calendar or in some other place. Yet the 23rd Psalm was well used at many Christian Wakes, funerals, and Memorials.
The verse, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…” brings both hope and consolation. Jesus as the Good Shepherd reassures us that He came that we may have Life and have it to the full. So, even if we are experiencing what seems to be the end, Jesus, the Gate, leads us through.
