Lenten retreat on being fruitful in marriage

The St Anthony’s RC Point Fortin Marriage Preparation Team hosted a Lenten retreat for married couples on Saturday, March 4 at the Our Lady of Mt Carmel RC Church, New Village. The retreat theme was Fruitfulness in marriage. Fr Dwight Merrick was the guest speaker.

The retreat began at 9.30 a.m. after everyone had breakfast provided by the marriage preparation team. A total of 16 couples attended, a mix of young and mature couples.

After the opening prayer, Fr Merrick gave a lively talk on the theme. He challenged couples to be fruitful outside of themselves as a couple and gave an unexpected perspective on the theme. Many ideas were generated and discussed on how it was possible to accomplish this mission.

Couples had the opportunity to mingle during the break and at lunchtime as they shared refreshments and chatted about the day’s proceedings.

At the conclusion of the afternoon, Fr Merrick anointed each couple. The marriage preparation team expressed thanks to Fr Merrick and to the couples for attending as well as those who supported the event.

Everyone departed with a fruit in hand as a reminder of the retreat theme.
