Archbishop to SEA students: “Don’t go anxious”

Archbishop Jason Gordon imparted key advice to SEA students on Thursday, March 23, “pray as if everything depends on God, and work as if everything depends on you”.

Ahead of the SEA exam, scheduled for Wednesday, March 29 Archbishop Gordon gathered with students for the Intercessory Mass at St Philip and St James RC Church, Main Road, Chaguanas.

He went on to share, “when we go into that wonderful moment next week, it is important for you to know that when you go, don’t go anxious. Because if you’re anxious your brain does not work as well. If you’re anxious, you’re not trusting Jesus is with you right there and then.”

Archbishop Gordon used the opportunity to share tips on reducing anxiety through correct breathing and using Christian Meditation. They practised using the mantra, ‘Maranatha’, meaning, ‘Come Lord, Come’, a call for Jesus to fulfill His promise to come again.

During the homily, His Grace also reflected on his own difficult SEA experience as someone who has the learning disorder of dyslexia, which involves difficulty in reading and writing.
