“He was born blind so that the works of God might be displayed in him.”
John 9:1-41
In the spiritual world, we all possess blurred vision and do not always see where God is leading us. For some, it is as though we are living in a state of perpetual night-ness and maybe have never seen dawn. To experience spiritual blindness is more detrimental than physical blindness. Clearly, the blind man’s physical blindness was not an impediment in the spiritual world. He had never seen Jesus but with spiritual insight he recognized Jesus who had called him into His most wonderful light.
Jesus sent the blind man to wash in the pool and without hesitation he obeyed. Obedience to God’s word always brings new insight. More important than a clear vision is a clean heart which is always receptive to God’s Holy Spirit and obedient to God’s Will.
The Pharisees had seen Jesus and they were present when he performed miracles, but they were more concerned about keeping the sabbath and the laws. Which laws do I strictly adhere to that blurs my spiritual vision? What are my blind spots?
Lord, here I am. Restore my spiritual sight.
