Catholic school receives supplies

JAMAICA

Icons of Annotto Bay, a local charity with extended reach to the United States, donated supplies to two recipient groups February 21 in the St Mary seacoast town.

The non-profit charity handed over articles to the St Theresa’s Basic School run by the Catholic Church, at its ‘Top Bay’ location, much to the happiness of the pupils and teachers of the institution.

A Jamaica Observer article said the presentations were made by Icons President Wyatt ‘Spur’ Williams, a retired policeman who lives in the United States but maintains a physical link with Jamaica; and his wife, Odette, a New York-based teacher of Jamaican background, secretary of the charity.

A short distance away, the charity also handed out items, which included sanitary napkins, walkers, a wheelchair, computer bags, and other things to be distributed by community volunteer Angella ‘Miss Ann’ Williamson. She has been, for over 30 years, looking out for the needs of the less fortunate in the busy town.

Williamson cooks and serves meals to hundreds of needy people each week, through the Society of St Vincent de Paul. She also prepares meals daily for pupils and staff of the St Theresa’s Basic School.
