Retreats, Bible studies planned for new convent

GUYANA

The Sisters of the Servants of the Lord had the Blessing and Opening of their new convent Sunday, January 29 in Charity, Essequibo Coast. Bishop Francis Alleyne OSB blessed the house and many Sisters from the diocese joined in the celebration.

According to a Catholic Standard report by Mother Nikopoia SSVM, the convent will not only be a safe, permanent residence for the Sisters, it also has adequate space for spiritual exercise silent retreats, Bible Studies and Formation classes, girls groups, vocation discernment, a novitiate, a place for missionaries to stay, a library, and a large spacious chapel for all to gather and pray.

“We are grateful especially to our patron St Joseph for his immense spiritual gifts he has given us throughout the two years of construction,” Mother Nikopoia said.

A spiritual exercise silent retreat will be held the last weekend of February for both men and women at the new convent. A Confirmation retreat and Catechist formation have already made the new convent flourish with activities.
