“When they had crossed over they landed at Gennesaret and anchored there”
When death comes close to home, it propels me more than before to contemplate my own mortality and time here on earth. A few years ago, the presumption of dying any day was not at the forefront as it is now.
This reading is rather timely, as my young cousin recently died. Her death has led me to reflect on my own life and the wasted opportunities to love as Christ did. To see each experience as an opportunity to prepare for my own crossing over.
Gennesaret- the prince’s garden; valley of riches! Jesus’ promise of everlasting joy; no pain or sickness in the eternal home the Father has prepared for me and for you. Those alive still have time to prepare.
O how easy it is to attain heaven if we knew how to love!
I know we will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
