God writes straight with crooked lines
Mark 6: 1 – 6
Beginning “The Bible in a Year” podcast, Fr. Mike Schmidt loves to say “God writes straight with crooked lines” as he goes through the stories of Genesis about Jesus’ earliest ancestors. And it is surprising some of the “brokenness”, as Fr. Mike puts it, throughout the ancestral line of Jesus and yet God continued to walk with them.
There are several saints within the Catholic faith that led publicly sinful lives before being converted. Most notably is St. Augustine whose mother prayed for his conversion and who wrote about his own story in the book, Confessions
So why was it so hard for the people of Jesus’ hometown to accept his teachings and works?
Lord, I pray today to not judge anyone, especially those doing good work for You and heal any brokenness within me so that You may use me also for Your good works.
