Friday January 20th: Thanks Mountaintop experiences

We must all have a ‘mountain’ to go to when we have serious or life-decisions to make.

Mark 3: 13 – 19

The mountain always had special significance in the Bible. It represents the place where God dwells. It represents the place where God meets human beings. It represents the place of prayer. Today we see that the mountain represents a place of mission.

Jesus went up the mountain where he summoned those he wanted and from them he appointed the twelve who would collaborate closely with him through preaching and casting out devils.

Throughout the scriptures the patriarchs and prophets, and now Jesus, have used the mountain for very solemn occasions. Consider, today, that Jesus deciding on who will collaborate with him in inaugurating and building the kingdom, as one of those special solemn occasions.

We must all have a ‘mountain’ to go to when we have serious or life-decisions to make. There are many things that pertain to our lives we ought not treat lightly. Choosing a career path, getting married, entering religious life or priesthood, are moments that require a serious ‘mountain top’ experience before deciding.
