Jesus called the man friend
Luke 5: 17-26
Jesus forgave the man his sins. The Pharisees and teachers of the law heard this and were horrified! You have to admire the emotional maturity of Jesus. He simply ordered the man to get up and walk.Jesus called the man friend because of his faith and that of his friends who brought him through the roof.
We can learn so much about friendship and faith from this gospel passage.
Faith made his friends take him to Jesus to be healed. Jesus not only healed his body, but forgave his sins due to that same faith.
My prayer is that I am always surrounded by friends who would make sure I got to Jesus when I couldn’t go to Him on my own. I also pray that I am a true friend to Jesus and do His will and I can befriend others and take them to Jesus just as the men in today’s gospel did.
