Tuesday November 15th: Short sight, not height

“He kept trying to see who Jesus was but he was too short.”

Luke 19: 1-10

There was Jesus right in his presence yet Zacchaus was unable to find Him. The gospel said he was too short. Isn’t this the same reason sometimes we are unable to connect with Jesus today: because of our Short-sightedness?

We cannot see Him if our gaze is set on the material. We would be looking in all the wrong places hoping to find the love, peace, and happiness we all crave. We would be stuck in the world enjoying worldly pleasures yet hoping to find salvation. However, this will not work for us because that can only be found in Jesus Christ.

Like Zaccheus, let us move from where we are, out of our comfort zone, and set our sights higher. Let us ‘elevate’ ourselves by reading the Bible, attending Mass, receiving the sacraments, and doing charitable deeds. Then Jesus, seeing the efforts we are making to find Him, will call us and welcome us into His inner circle where we will find the everlasting life He promised.
