“Stop turning my Father’s house into a marketplace!”
John 2: 13-22
When Jesus angrily chased the money-changers out of the temple, it was because they were desecrating a sacred space – to the Jews, that sacred ‘shrine of the Glory of God.’
We, too, desecrate our own temples – our bodies – ‘temples of the Holy Spirit’ – when we abuse our bodies. How? In too many ways that are being dangerously ignored. Chief among them today is the entire Gender Identity fiasco that is gaining galloping momentum. As long as we continue to push God further and further away, this rot slithers into our lives and snakes its venom into the minds and hearts of even our little ones.
On this day, when we celebrate the Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica, let us each make every effort to build up our church – not just the physical church, but the Church – all of us, together.
Encourage each other to focus on those attributes that will lead us to live holy lives. We have on-going Synodality to help us.
Lord Jesus, make us, Your Church, pure and holy.
