Monday October 10th: The sign of Jonah

…something greater than Jonah is here!” Lk.11:32

Luke 11: 29-32

Unbelief and unrepented sin are big barriers to healing of mind, body, soul and spirit.  This is why Jesus rebukes the people for their unbelief when they ask for a sign that He is the Messiah.

He emphasizes to them the absolute need for repentance, since unbelief can easily lead to unrepented sin. Whenever unrepented sin settles into our lives, it solidifies itself and forms an unhealthy bond with us.  Too often, we do not realize it and, when left unattended, this unhealthy bond extinguishes the Light of Christ from within us and we walk in darkness.

The Good News is that we are never beyond the forgiving mercy of Christ.  We are all called to experience this Mercy through the wonderful and priceless gift of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  It is never too late to ask God for the virtue of humility so that we can acknowledge our need for repentance and reconcile ourselves with Jesus Christ, our Redeemer. Let us be always ready to pray sincerely, “Lord, I am sorry! Please forgive me.”
