Divine providence will always provide for those who simply leave everything for the sake of the kingdom of God.
Luke 8: 1 – 3
Today’s gospel passage shows Jesus as a true itinerant. He made his way through all the towns and villages preaching and proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom of God.
The itinerant is more concerned about getting to places and reaching out to people. They are not going to be weighed down by baggage or waste time lingering. The itinerant is free. We see that in the passages where Jesus sent out the twelve and the seventy-two. He told them to simply go and not be weighed down by baggage or personal comforts.
Any follower of Jesus must also be ready to adopt the same freedom of spirit and movement. We already saw that the disciples he called dropped everything and followed him. Today we also see others adopting that same attitude.
Divine providence will always provide for those who simply leave everything for the sake of the kingdom of God. It is a guarantee that the Lord has given and time has proven.
