Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, passed away at 96 at her estate in Balmoral, Scotland on September 8. The state funeral takes place on Monday, September 19.
She visited Trinidad and Tobago in February 1966, November 1985, and November 2009. Here’s how the two early visits were recorded in Catholic News.
Front page of the Catholic News on February 5, 1966 to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s first visit to Trinidad and Tobago. The Catholic News in the name of the Catholic Community of the Archdiocese of Port of Spain welcomes Her Majesty and His Royal higness Prince Philip to Trinidad and in the words of the Church liturgy prays that God might “adorn them with every virtue; remove all evil from their path, that they may come at last to grace with Thee who art the Way, the Truth and the Life, Through Christ Our Lord” Amen.
