The legionaries attached to Regia-Our Lady of The Rosary of Fatima, thank all participants who took part in the Essay and Art Competition, which was organised to celebrate the 100th anniversary of The Legion of Mary.
The Legion was started in Dublin, Ireland on September 7, 1921. Thus September 7, 2021, marked the 100th anniversary of this lay organisation. It was founded by Frank Duff, along with a group of Catholic women and Fr Michael Toher, a priest of the Archdiocese of Dublin.
Duff was 32 years old when he founded this organisation. He spent the rest of his life promoting service to God under the patronage of our Blessed Mother. He died November 7, 1980, at the age of 91. We are thankful for the dedication of Frank Duff, and happy to be a part of this noble organisation to continue to work in the service of God.
We also take this opportunity to thank principals, teachers, and parents and all those who supported these youths who participated, from both secondary and primary schools. We pray that the experience and knowledge gained from these competitions would enable our young ones to strengthen their faith in God and become better members of The Legion of Mary and better citizens of the world.
The prize-giving took place at the St Philip and St James RC Church, Chaguanas, on Sunday, May 8. Fr Anton Dick CSSp celebrated the Mass. He asked legionaries to persevere in witnessing to and spreading the Legion of Mary and by extension the faith through word and work.
