Saturday August 6th: A glimpse of glory

Feast of the Transfiguration

‘And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white …’

Luke 9:28-36

In the Gospel today we hear about the privileged Peter, John, and James; they witnessed the Messiah’s transformation. This surely gave the three disciples a glimpse into the glory of Jesus Christ when he comes back to earth again soon. Not only were they able to conceive the glorious form he morphed into, but they were strengthened by the very account.

The hope and strength gained by the three disciples can be experienced by us when we witness our loved ones as they receive the various sacraments. In addition, the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion together can take us to Mt. Tabor where we can listen for the voice of God and rest assured that Jesus is glorified and will return.

Heavenly Father, thank You for this account of the manifestation of Your power because this example of Your power gives us hope. Lord, continue to be with us. Amen.
