The Catholic community in Pt Fortin and environs is preparing to witness history as one of its own, Rev Royce Thomas CSsR, will be ordained to the priesthood on Saturday, August 13. The Mass begins at 11 a.m.
Archbishop Jason Gordon will be the ordaining prelate. Provincial Superior of the Redemptorists, Fr Paul Borowski CSsR is expected to be present, along with other clergy.
Rev Thomas was born January 10, 1989 and made his first profession on July 20, 2017. He made his perpetual vows on January 5, 2022 and was ordained a deacon three days later on January 8.
In a short message titled ‘A call to serve’ accompanying the invitation, Rev Thomas said that by following St Alphonsus, founder of the Redemptorists, “I desire and pray to be a priest who will work tirelessly to promote the good news of Christ, selflessly sharing the gifts God gave me to build his church. As a son of Alphonsus, prayer will be the core of my relationship with God and my ministry. Relying totally on the Holy Spirit, I hope to celebrate each Mass and liturgical act with reverence and grace.”
