Fundraising prayer breakfast to support Diocesan Clergy

Mary Immaculate Prayer Group and Friends are hosting a fundraising prayer breakfast in support of the Diocesan Clergy Pool on August 31, Independence Day at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with the theme Cup of Gratitude (2 Mac 1:11). For information call 383-0117 and 795-0856.

At present, La Romaine parish priest Msgr Christian Pereira is recovering at the Southern Medical Clinic, San Fernando after having surgery on his right knee Tuesday, July 19.

His sister, Maria Pereira told the Catholic News the surgery was successful, and he was back on the ward being monitored. She has been visiting and reported he has been in “fairly good spirits”.

She conveyed his thanks to all who donated blood and offered prayers on his behalf.

“He said he feels buoyed up by all the prayers because the prayers are constant…we are grateful for all the prayers and all the support that we are getting,” she said. Msgr Pereira is also grateful to all the doctors and nurses at Southern Medical. “They are really great,” Pereira (M) said.

He was expected to be discharged from hospital this week (July 25–29) and will continue his recuperation.
