Tuesday June 28th: The Word of God

“Lord, save us! We are perishing!” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, you of little faith?”.

Matthew 8: 23-27

Recently my flight was cancelled, and I was directed to the Re-booking line which seemed never-ending. Do you ever wonder where your prayers and petitions fall in God’s queue, or do you think it’s only you in line and that the response must be immediate and positive?

During this pandemic, what storms have we experienced? Many were swamped by huge waves of despair, and some may have even lost loved ones. Was there difficulty believing in Jesus’ power? Let us be encouraged to know that even the closest disciples of Jesus were not much different.

In the storms of life, we may feel Jesus is asleep, not near us. However, at the moment he is really needed, he is there, a hand outstretched to save us from anxiety, and despair, thinking, ‘Why are you afraid, you of little faith?’”
God, I acknowledge my weak faith; my fear that Jesus is asleep when I feel overwhelmed. I ask for simple trust and share in the Apostles’ wonder at the power present in the person of Jesus.
