Feast of Pentecost
Flowing out from this is a joy that, once experienced, is to be taken to the world.
John 20:19-23
There is a Song that says “Joy is like a flag flown high from the castle of my heart… as a sign that the king is in residence there”
On this Pentecost Sunday, the Gospel says that the disciples begin by huddling up in the room out of “Fear of the Jews”, yet having encountered the Lord, they are now filled with Joy.
The true Mark and Seal of the Christian is the Joy, which is illuminated by the presence of God in the heart. What the Holy Spirit does in the soul of the believer is solidify the presence of God, His kingship and power in one’s life. Within the soul dwells the Spirit; therein lies God. Flowing out from this is a joy that, once experienced, is to be taken to the world.
This is the Good News, this is the mission of the Church. With an unwavering joy and faith proclaim the “marvels of the Lord”
Lets us call on the Spirit today, encounter the Lord, then filled with Joy …. Take it to the world!
