Many questions can be asked about the Ascension of Our Lord Jesus. The first is why. The simple answer is that his mission on earth is ended and now he must go where he belongs.
Jesus has chosen and called disciples, he now blesses them and assures them they do not have anything to worry about.
His departure from earth and from his disciples in a physical form. is a new beginning of a relationship, through the Holy Spirit who will take his place and enable them to continue the work he began. The Spirit teaches and reminds us of what we are called to do as his ambassadors.
The Lord Jesus is thus opening the door of his Divine ministry to all.
What then is our response to the Lord? What are we willing to give up and to do as his ambassadors?
Open our minds and our hearts, Lord, to follow in your footsteps even though it will be difficult for us to do, but we are your humble servants trying to do our best.
