Thursday May 26th: In a short time

“When sorrow will turn to Joy.”

 John 16:16-20

Since covid-19, there continues to be a tremendous amount of weeping and wailing. Many who lost loved ones say that one of the hardest things was not being able to see them at hospital, and to say farewell. Weeping and wailing…and yet there are so many in the world partying and rejoicing, flouting all health protocols as if there is no tomorrow.

But wait…Jesus assures us that even though we may be sorrowing now, it will not be forever as there will be a time when sorrow will turn to joy. (“weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.”) Our faith gives us that reassurance. The question is how strong is our faith to wait it out. In John 14:28, he gives the comfort “Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid…If you loved me you …been glad to know that I am going to the Father.” So that what more do we need. It is painful to ‘no longer see’ but …we will see again and therein lies our victory. Our Faith.
