St Benedict’s, La Romaine Parish will host a concert next month and a golf tournament in July to raise funds to improve its infrastructure.
The project of land stabilisation and internal road repairs has the approval and support of the Chancery Office, parish priest Msgr Christian Pereira said in a letter.
“This project has a specific scope of works and has been sent to various contractors inviting them to bid for tender. Our building committee has been working on this for over three years. With the Covid lockdown we were stalled until recently when we received the go ahead from the Chancery.”
Msgr Pereira appealed to fellow Catholics and the wider national community to support the project which is expected to cost $4.5–5m.
The fundraising concert will celebrate mothers and fathers on Sunday, June 12, 5–7 p.m. at the Naparima Bowl, San Fernando, while the golf tournament will be on Sunday, July 10 at the Pointe-a-Pierre Golf Club. The parish hopes golfers from across the country will participate.
Individuals and organisations may also make donations via cheque (payable to La Romaine R C Church) or direct transfer (Republic Bank Ltd, Gulf View account #740-801-136-601 n/o RC Archbishop of Port of Spain/La Romaine Parishes).
