“I have told you this so that my own joy may be in you and your joy be complete.”
John 15: 9-11
Where you choose to remain can affect your mental health. That’s why Jesus tells us to remain in his love. When we have traversed mortal sin territory, we open the door to shame, depression, anxiety, and stress. These can take huge bites out of our joy, confuse us and entrap us in situations which are toxic.
After a while, our joy tank becomes drained. Life can become overwhelming and unbearable as despair, deep sadness and depression seeps in and wells up within us. We, then, may be tempted to rationalize that God does not love us.
If you find yourself at this point or if you may be going through a lot, hang on! God’s love is real. If you are desperately trying to make sense out of all the trauma and pain that you have been through, or you feel like giving up, know that you are still most precious in his sight. He is the God who sees your situations and the only one who can fill what is lacking.
Come, Lord Jesus, complete my joy!
