Monday May 16th: God’s Love Language

“Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me.”

John 14:21-26

“How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.”, These familiar words taken from Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s famous 43rd Sonnet are clearly answered in John 14:21. It is interesting the link between love and obedience especially since the greatest of all commandments is about Love.
Jesus takes away the ambiguity of what love should look like and gives us a clear path to Him, and this is through showing love for Him and our neighbors – His love language is Obedience. Of course, this is easier said than done, but when we fix our focus on the God’s promise of eternal life, the means justifies the end.
We are called to really question ourselves; how much do we love God? We have the blueprint…the cheat sheet…the manual…the examples…the signs…so why are we not doing what we are supposed to do?
Jesus, help me to respond to your love language by obedience to your Word.
