“I will do whatever you ask in my Name”
John 14:6-14
The Gospel reading sets the scenario between Jesus and the disciples. Clearly even though they were in his company for years they still did not understand who He was. Jesus is letting them know that He was the centre of God’s activities on earth; that they will be part of that ministry, but they must first understand in order to believe.
After stating that He was “the way, the truth and the life, Jesus goes on to assure them that whatever they asked in His Name He will do. This is indeed a great promise.
What about us? Do we truly appreciate Jesus’ promise and what He is doing daily in our lives? What is our reaction when we ask for His help? Are we patient? Do we ask, place it at the foot of the cross and still try to pick it up on our own? Let us trust Him to be able to satisfy our needs in His own way and time. God Bless.
