This poem is dedicated to all the mental health fighters, supporters, and advocates.
You’re not the only one to sit around the violence
And scream from the top of your lungs but only hear silence
Watching those you love accept the selfish rage
Wanting to fly free from the golden cage.
You’re not the only one flooded with hate
But you need to come out before it’s too late
It eats everything including body and brain
Makes you bitter and sicker from the underlying pain
You’re not the only who can’t think straight
I know everything feels like…it’s such a huge weight
It seems simple but it’s so hard to get done
A walk, a smile, even a conversation.
You’re not the only one who is searching the soul
Your mind…inside, you just want to feel whole
And you want to be present but still can’t give your all
It feels like when you try, you immediately fall.
You’re not the only one to fall flat, you see
There are others out there like you and me
Pick yourself up, dust off and have no fear
When you mind goes dark …I’ll tell u come back….it’s better right here.
