Tuesday April 26th: Use God’s lens!

Nicodemus said to him, ‘How can these things be?’

John 3:7-1

One of the recent RCIA candidates shared that at his very first session, a young man had come to share his testimony about his conversion. He said he just could not understand what the person meant by saying that his life was turned upside down and he had given it all over to Christ.

He said he did not think that was as easy as it was made out to be and he actually secretly doubted the reality of such a testimony. “Could that really happen?” he had asked.

This man was very much like Nicodemus. He was in a dark place. He was trying to use his mind to understand.  He remembered that in his doubt he was constantly encouraged to pray for the grace to believe in God’s love for him. It was a challenge, but over the period of the process, he admitted that as a photographer, he began seeing things “through God’s lens” and was able to say yes to new life in the baptismal waters.
