Poem: O, Happy Death!

By Felix Edinborough

They came and saw

A symbol of total defeat

A broken man

Begging for mercy

“I thirst”

Head hung low in full surrender

A common criminal

Hanging with birds of a feather

An overall failure

A terrible, painful, disgrace

O what a shameful death!

They came but did not see

The Son of Man

A man of courage

Soaked in the blood of love

Who chose to die for love of friend

Showing care and concern

“Father, forgive them

For they know not what they do”

They came but did not see

A victorious man

Giving his life to save

Generation after generation

A man of eternal hope

“This day you shall be with me in paradise,”

A man who with his dying breath

Uttered words of satisfaction

Who fulfilled what he set out to do

They came but did not hear

“My mission is accomplished.

Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.”

O happy Death!
