Friday April 8th: Jesus is Lord.

We believe that Jesus is God, equal to the Father.

John 10: 31 – 42.

The Jews accused Jesus of blasphemy, therefore, they wanted to stone him. Blasphemy is the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God or claiming to be God. Jesus claimed to be God and this scandalised the Jews.

Catholics accept that Jesus is God. In our Creed we profess that we believe in Jesus Christ because he is the only Son of God, he is God from God, light from light, true God from true God and consubstantial with the Father.

Our salvation depends on Jesus being God since he could not save us otherwise. We can receive salvation by no other name but the name of Jesus.

Acknowledging that Jesus is God and Saviour, does not require him to prove himself to us. It simply requires us to trust and hope in him. Since we believe Jesus is Lord and Saviour, we confidently place our lives in his hands. If not, what is the point of our faith and the Lenten obligations we are undertaking?
