“Whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 5:17-19
Sometimes I feel like I am going through the motions as a Catholic, Mass on Sundays, a quick prayer at night and in the morning, maybe, going through Lent without deep reflection on the meaning of this season.
Jesus invites me, us, to enter more fully into God’s laws – to discern God’s calling to us; to know the meaning of following God’s laws, His commandments and to allow for transformation. God’s law was given in love for us to become a people of love. we must know what it means to love and how to love others – the poor, the outcast.
We are called to speak against injustice – human trafficking, corruption, discrimination, crime and violence. But also, to listen, reflect, discern and then ACT out of love. Only then is the law fulfilled; we are transformed and communities are places of peace and love.
I thank God for those who have taught me God’s ways and pray that I may be such a person for others – who demonstrates Kingdom values.
