“Everything they do is done for people to see”
Matthew 23:1-12
“A picture paints 1000 words”, this saying might not be as accurate now, as we are flooded with Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat ‘staged’ pics, memes, and of course fake news. It is sometimes easy to get caught up in the exterior, at face value, espejcially when it gives the impression that everything is okay. Though it is easy to hide behind pictures, Jesus is interested in what’s going on inside of our hearts.
As we settle into the Lenten journey, God is calling us to focus on what is out of sight. We are called to dig deep and identify not just the sinful areas in our hearts; but also, the hurts, traumas and perceptions, that have hindered us from fully receiving Jesus; loving fully, forgiving as God called us, being more generous and humbler.
How can we do this? Through prayer, through reflection on the Word and through spending more time with the Blessed Sacrament.
Jesus, help us to dig deeper so that we can find ways of becoming better versions of ourselves.
